Logo: Sneak Peek
Below is a glimpse of a new logo I’m working on. All Buttoned-Up is an event planning and design boutique in the making. The color schemes are still in process, so check back for the final logo!

Logo: The Yellow Button
I feel like 50% of my weekend was spent in the car. I don’t really mind though, because I had the chance to spend the day in one of my favorite cities, Charlottesville. Although it was cloudy & rainy, who can beat walking around the downtown mall, coffee in hand, checking out the art, shops and farmers market!?
After we left C-ville, my last stop was Harrisonburg, VA to meet with a client and friend of mine. The Yellow Button is a women’s boutique opening my a friend of mine, Mandy. Set to open this summer, she plans to carry shoes, clothes, gifts and jewelry. Check out her final logo:

Home Sweet Home
What can I say? I’m in love with Charlotte, NC. The best way I can describe that city is that it has that small town feeling mixed with city life. There were so many cool art galleries, coffee shops (Smelly Cat, haha) cool bars (Ri Ra had a roof top deck that looked over the city), restaurants, boutiques, vintage stores and so much more. The weekend flew by and I can’t wait to plan another trip down south . . . . next time stopping in Charleston too.
Anyway, here is a quick post of a few more logo trends for inspiration . . . .

Yikes!
A recent post from Logo Design Love sparked my interest. A designer’s worst nightmare is spending hours and hours coming up with a unique design solution, then finding out it’s already been done! Why does this happen? In their words, “It’s becoming more and more difficult to execute original logo designs. No matter how clever your idea, the chances are someone has created a very similar logo. Why is that? We’re all surrounded by the same influences, exposed to the same shapes, forms and patterns. With the importance of branding in the marketplace, and thousands of designers working on similar projects, it’s obvious ideas will, from time-to-time, look almost identical.”
My advice: At the different stages in the design process, stop and think of how you can make what you are doing one of a kind!
Beach Bound
Tomorrow I’m heading to the beach (yay)! Before I left town I wanted to share one of my favorite logos. One that is quite appropriate for the occasion.
Designed by Duffy & Partners, the Bahamas logo has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. They did an amazing job with the branding, especially with the challenge of having to include every island. Everything from print ads to water bottles is just stunning!
Logo Trends
Designer Bill Gardner put together a collection of trends for the famous Logo Lounge collection. Here are some of my favorites:
