Easy Apple Crisp

Last night, I decided to whip this up to bring over to a friends house.  It was sooo good.

Easy Apple Crisp

  • 4 apples – peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a 9 inch square baking pan, mix sliced apples with brown sugar. In a large bowl, mix together flour, white sugar, cinnamon and salt. In a small bowl, beat together egg and melted butter. Stir into flour mixture. Spread evenly over apples.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until topping is golden and crisp.

Pang is awesome.

I know I’ve blogged about her before, but Pang is so awesome. Not only does she create the cutest little creatures but she is also an amazing photographer. I had the oppurtunity to use Pang to do a photo shoot for my cousin, Natalie, who is just starting her own event planning business (All Buttoned-Up). Pang had the greatest ideas, was so full of energy and made Natalie feel so comfortable. She’s such a pleasure to work with – I can’t wait until I have another chance to work with Pang again. Here is just a sneak peak of an image we shot during one of our breaks between locations. I happened to see that little treasure (an old window frame) in someone’s burn pile – jackpot.

I think everyone always has dreams of starting their own business and doing something cool everyday. (I’m not complaining, I have a cool job – one I love) For my brother, who’s an extraordinary cook, it’s starting his own restaurant. For my friend Meg, it’s starting her own clothing boutique.  For Mandy, another friend, it was starting a clothing boutique as well (and she did)!

I came across scissors.paper.cake yesterday and it was so inspiring! You have two people; Naomi (who I’ve blogged about before here) of hello naomi and Nathalie of imprintables. These two extraordinary women joined forces and created scissors. paper.cake. – perfectly styled parties. Everything from the decor to the food to the invitations is specular. My dream come true! You have to check out their site. Below are images from just one of their amazing events.

Baltimore Weekend.

WOW. Well, I can finally say that the crazyiness of last weekend is finally over. I couldn’t mention it before because I didn’t want to spill the beans, but I threw a surprise birthday for my boyfriend on top of everything else that’s going on. Call me crazy, but it was so much fun. I had such a hard time keeping it a secret, but now that it’s over the party was so worth it. Believe it or not, this is the second year in a row that I surprised him! No more after this, I swear.

After the party, we spent the weekend in Baltimore to celebrate our anniversary. Honestly, I’ve always been a little skeptical of Bmore, but I’m glad we decided to give it a shot. It was amazing. Our hotel was awesome (all glass walls with great views of the Harbor) the weather was perfect and I had two of the most amazing meals I’ve ever had in my life.

The first, was this awesome tapas restaurant called Mezze, located right in the heart of Fells Point. The restaurant was packed when we got there, but now I can understand why. We literally stuffed our face with this amazing food and the best part was how affordable it was! The goat cheese stuffed roasted red peppers were my favorite!

The second amazing meal we had was at Miss Shirley’s. We arrived there pretty early in the morning so we could get a head start and I’m so glad we did! When we left, the wait for breakfast was almost two hours!! Geeez. Anyway, the restaurant was a few blocks away from our hotel but it was soooo worth the walk. The food was out of this world and the ambiance was just as good. I had pumpkin cheesecake stuffed french toast (which I wish I was still eating it right now).

I heart pennants

Right now I’m loving DIY pennants, especially in place of the traditional streamers & balloons. I’ve seen them popping up everywhere lately so here are a few of my favorites!

To make the lighted paper pennants yourself, Anna of Rifle design has a great tutorial over at Once Wed. Check it out here. All other pennants are available for purchase. (Green fabric banner from Dance in my garden, Mustard/Teal fabric pennant from pamwears,  mini pennant from knottednest, and Happy Birthday banner from Pinwhirls.)
